2nd Chance Theater
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas , which tumbled into obscurity last fall theatrically, is finding new life in the land of iTunes rentals, ranking third at the moment ahead of better-known titles like Zack and Miri (which is also making up for lost theatrical love on the Web) and right behind something called Twilight.
Far fewer surprises on the iTunes sales charts, with Day the Earth Stood Still probably gaining the most from the extra exposure down at number 10. Man, people really didn’t go see that movie.
It’s doing even better on DVD, though, hitting number two right behind Bedtime Stories in sales and number one on rentals. The other impressive DVD performer is Not Easily Broken, which faded quickly in theaters but, like most of it’s Christian-themed kin is finding robust life on home video.

Brian’s take: First of all, Zack & Miri was a brilliant film in most aspects. It fell apart a little at the end. I’m not sure if Kevin Smith could figure out how to make the main love interest realistic. Or maybe the actors just didn’t have good chemistry. Anyway, as for “Boy,” I saw the whole movie … in the trailer. This is one of those films that totally over-exposed itself in the trailer. I can tell you every main plot point, even how it ends, and I’ve never seen the film. As for “Day,” I unfortunately actually did see this in the theater and I still haven’t managed to find anything costing 10 bucks that could be worth less than the two hours I’ll never get back watching that crapfest of a film. Special effects? Awesome. Everything else? Ugh. The worst part is I could think of about 100 ways that movie could’ve been better and the filmmaker just seemed intent on crapping it up. Anyway, keep up the good work Dave!

Brian P! Good to hear from you. I loved me some Zack & Miri. I don’t feel it fell apart at the end so much as the end was just not very memorable or original – certainly not as memorable as most of the film. The class reunion sequence is one of the funniest Smith’s ever done.
My condolences on your Day the Earth Stood Still ordeal. If you haven’t seen it, the original is one of the best sci-fi films ever made. No kidding.

The new twilight movie is amazing!! If you have not observed it yet, you should take the time and watch it. It is possible to watch the twilight full movie for cost-free on-line by clicking on the link, or you’ll be able to go and see it in theatres (if you can locate a theatre that may be still playing it) but you must go and see it. I think it’s the top 1 from the series so far!
